Photo Salon

The Photo-Salon in Slimjet lets you frame your photos and add other enhancement effects before uploading them to the server. If automatic photo shrinking feature is enabled on this domain, they will be shrunk to the preset resolution as well.

How to enter photo salon?

To enter the photo salon, just click the option "Process Photo" in the open file dialog where you choose the files to be uploaded. After that, click OK to close the open file dialog and the Photo-Salon will pop up.

Combining Mode vs. Batch Mode

Most web sites take only one photo to be uploaded each time. Without Photo-Salon, you can only choose one picture in the open file dialog for such websites. With Photo-Salon, if you select multiple photos on such web sites, you will enter the combing mode and the Photo-Salon will let you combine all the selected photos into a single photo either by way of using a frame which takes multiple input photos or by way of simple tiling.

Photo-sharing sites like Google Plus or Facebook also let you upload multiple photos in one shot. When you select multiple photos on such web pages, you will enter the batch mode by default, i.e., you can apply different effects and add different photo frames to each selected photo. But you can also select "More->Combining Mode" from the menu so that you can combining all the photos into a single photo.

Adjustments

You can select from one of the adjustment effects from the combo box. After that, you will see one to three sliders representing adjustable parameters. Drag the sliders to tune the final picture to your own preference. If you want to apply multiple adjustments, click the [Apply] button to apply the current effect. Then select another adjustment effect and apply it again. If you wish to start all over again, click the [Reset to original state] button to revert the photo file to the original state.

Using Photo Frames

Click the option "Use Photo Frames" to add photo frame to your photo. A photo frame can take one or more input photos. The number of input photos a photo frame can take is indicated by the numerical prefix at the beginning of the frame name, such as [1], [2], [3], etc. There are two type of photo frames. One is transparent photo frames which take a fixed number of input photos. The photos are shown through transparent windows on the photo frames. In transparent photo frames, such windows are predefined through the transparent layer of the image. The other type of photo frames are opaque photo frames which begin with the prefix [*]. They are simply an opaque background image file without any predefined transparent windows. For opaque photo frames, you can select from one of the predefined generic layouts which defines the number of input photos and whether the photos are placed.

In batch mode or if there is only one input photo, please select the photo frames which take only one input photo. In combining mode, select a photo frame which takes exactly the number of photos you have chosen. Or, if you really like a photo frame, choose the exactly the same number of photos to match the photo frame. In batch mode, use the "Current Photo File" combo box located at the bottom left corner to switch between different photo files.

The photo frame or a window inside a photo frame might not have the same aspect ratio as the photo file. In this case, you will have option to use the mouse to drag the photo either horizontally or vertically so that the most important part of the photo is shown through. If you would like to exchange the photos between two windows in a multi-photo frame, hold SHIFT key and use the mouse to drag one photo and drop it onto another.

You can click the "More Functions" menu on the top of the Photo Salon dialog to get access to more menu functions as listed below:

  • Combining Mode
Switch between batch mode and combining mode.

  • Clip Photo
Select a portion of the input photo for output. This feature is only available when a single input photo is selected and photo frame is not used.

  • Enable Random Photo Tilting
This feature is only available in combining mode with multiple input photos. The input photos will be randomly tilted to create some casual-style effect if this option is enabled.

  • Tilt Photos Randomly Again
Use this menu to tilt the input photos randomly again if you are not satisfied with the current tilting angles. This feature is only available in combining mode with multiple input photos.

  • Use Signature Image
Add your own signature image (PNG file) at the right bottom corner of the output photo.

  • Select Signature Image
Select the signature image file (PNG format).

  • Define Photo Frame Layout
Select this menu to start define or change the layout for the currently photo frame. Then you can draw one more rectangles in the preview window with mouse to define the windows through the photos will show through. When you draw the rectangles in transparent frames, make sure it's slightly larger than the transparent area so that there won't be any gap between the photo and the pass-through window. When you are done, right click the mouse in the preview window or select the menu "Define Photo Frame Layout". You can define the layout for any opaque frames or self-made transparent frames.

  • Add your own photo frame
Create your own photo frame from a image file (PNG or JPEG file). PNG files will generate a transparent frame with transparent windows to pass through the windows while JPEG will make an opaque frame. Slimjet will automatically cut transparent holes in the opaque frames based on the defined frame layout. After you select the image file, you will be asked to provide a name for the photo frame. Then you can draw one more rectangles in the preview window with mouse to define the windows through the photos will show through. When you are done, right click the mouse in the preview window or select the menu "Define Photo Frame Layout". The preview image will be updated to reflect the newly defined frame layout. You are welcome to submit your own custom-made photo frame to us so that we can share it with other Slimjet users. In this way, all the users will have more photo frames available to use.

  • Update Photo Frames
Update photo frames from our online server.

  • Apply The Same Settings to All Photos
This is valid in batch mode only. Selecting this menu will apply the same frame and adjustment settings to all the selected photos.
