Why use an older version of Google Chrome?

Support of Java, Silverlight and NPAPI plugins

Unfortunately, we only started to archive old versions of Chrome since Chrome 48. Chrome dropped support for Java, silverlight and other NPAPI plugins in Chrome 45. Fortunately this archive shows up in a search. I remember it from long ago needing it now to run a relatively current browser in Ubuntu 16.

104 works. I also have 108 as a portable (all dependencies standalone), & 114 NOT working in this outdated distro (118 is current).

There should be a way to keep the latest Chrome alive in Ubuntu 16.

What I do not understand is why Slimjet maintains this for the public. Chrome is the standard commercial competing browser.
